At this luxury low-rise hotel, the sound of


hooves is one of the main attractions. Just a 15-minute drive from the airport, and 30 minutes from Downtown Dubai, this 160-acre estate is home to Dubai Polo Club. Take afternoon tea on the terrace and


watch the pros in action, or join in the fun and take lessons with the resident Argentinian polo instructor (October to May). Te hotel welcomes families. While some are experienced riders, others


simply come to laze by the infinity pool, head to the spa for a Tai-inspired treatment or take the shuttle bus to the beach or shopping mall. On Fridays, linger over the buffet brunch with flowing champagne, then head to the Polo Bar for a cocktail as the sun sets. Nods to equestrian culture occur


throughout the property, from a giant sculpture of a horse’s head in the lobby, to smaller statues of ponies in the lounge. Tis is a hotel where the decadence of Dubai

of the Autograph Collection — are really helping to inject a bit of ‘wow’ factor into Zurich. Interiors by Marcel Wanders are brash, bold and unforgettable. My sizeable room couldn’t be better —


the Ghostwriter Suite is perfect for real and aspiring writers. Tere’s a typewriter, book- themed furniture and rugs, as well as a library with plenty of books to keep you entertained. Dining options are varied, which is useful as the hotel is in an area under development, a little way from the city centre, though there’s a tram stop right outside so getting around isn’t a problem. Service is crisp and friendly and there’s


also a spa available. A staff member can even drive you to the airport in the hotel’s own Maserati. Kameha Grand isn’t just one of the top boutique hotels in Zurich, it’s one of the best hotels in the city, period. Christopher Beanland
