Veterans to provide care and reha- bilitation for disabled ex-service personnel and their families. VE Day on 8 May 2022 marks 77 years
since the end of the war in Europe. World War Two veteran and Care for Veterans’ resident Len Gibbon recalls the day: “I was a despatch rider on my way to Hamburg, riding my motorbike along the autobahn. T e woodland that ran alongside the motorway was alight. Suddenly, a Spitfi re was fl ying above me — it came right down, then fl ew back up and did a loop! T e pilot shouted down to me with thumbs up, shouting ‘victory!’ T en I knew it was over. I stood up on my bike, arms in the air, cheering!”

Leah’s story “I’m 41 and in October, I ran the London Marathon for the second and last time. I say last. I never say never. “I ran for my daughter Hollie, who
came into this world in March 2004. T at evening our lives changed for ever — life was never normal again. “Hollie was born with a little
