C
reated to spark conversation and enjoyable discussions, Alive On Demand is a streaming platform
with more than 200 unique videos created in collaboration with older people. It’s designed to help family members and friends better communicate and learn more about loved ones past and interests. Alive On Demand features a wide
range of content including guided reminiscence, storytelling and poetry, guided tours, seated exercise and dance, gardening and nature and calming jour- neys and experiences. Designed to be user-friendly, each video is fi lterable by video length, dementia level and type of content, for easy navigating. T e unique videos have been developed to accom- modate for those living with all stages of dementia, with easy-to-follow content and nothing that may cause distress. Available around the clock, Alive On
Demand is a great tool to help older people connect with who they are, as well as bring people closer together. Alive On Demand was born out of over 10 years
of professional experience engaging older people, including research into specifi c information on what places and activities they enjoy. T e platform was developed around the need for specially curated content that puts older people at the centre. T e
videos are designed to be a
mixture of learning, entertainment and reminiscence with questions that guide conversation and spark memories. T e videos are accessible through an internet browser and both Android and iOS apps. T e apps also allow each video to be viewed and enjoyed offl ine. Alive On Demand is already being
enjoyed by many families, who fi nd it an invaluable resource. Alex Hood, who uses the platform with his grandmother, shared that, “It had become diffi cult to communicate with my grandma, espe- cially in group situations. But using Alive on Demand’s reminiscence videos as a prompt for our conversation, I was able to have the best talk with her I’ve had in years. My family were amazed at how chatty she was with me.”
