54 New Year, New You Charity challenges Help end homelessness

Face the freeze and help end homelessness with the Crisis Icebreaker challenge

T his winter, Crisis is chal-

lenging people to take an icy plunge to raise money and help

end homelessness. Not only will taking part help raise

vital funds for Crisis, cold-water swim- ming and showers could have benefits for mental and physical health, with evidence to suggest it can help your body adapt to deal with stress while endorphins leave you on a high. Up until 28 February, you can help

make a difference by setting your own cold-water challenge. Plunge into icy waters, swim the

length of a lido, face the freeze in fancy dress, pledge to a daily dip or commit to a month of cold showers — it doesn’t matter where you are, face the freeze your way. Or join Crisis at one of its events

in Tooting and Parliament Hill in London, and Bicester to swim solo or as part of a relay race.
