Back with a bang! I


t’s going to be a knockout summer with a huge lineup of BMC local area festivals. We’ve a long tradition of gathering together to celebrate our love for the outdoors, and in recent years we’ve not been able to do so due to the pandemic. But now they’re back, and they’re going to be banging. So here they are, six super special festivals for you to join:


BMC LakesFest 22-24 April


Lakes Fest 2022 is a celebration of the Duddon valley. Organised by a small group of dedicated volunteers with support from KendalWall and the BMC, the festival is non-profit making, meaning costs for you are kept to an absolute minimum. There’ll be activities for families, experienced and novice climbers, walkers and anyone interested in spending some time in a fantastic setting. We hope our events will give you an insight into how the beauty of the Duddon valley is maintained.


BMC Hongian Ffest 27-29 May


Do you fancy 'Hanging Out' in the Moelwynion at a Welsh-themed BMC festival? If so, get the dates of May 27-29 in your diary and be part of the walking, climbing, bouldering, talks and events in and around Blaenau Ffestiniog at Hongian Ffest. Lots more details will be posted on the @BMCCymruWales Facebook group. Welsh-speaking volunteers will be needed!


BMC Pembroke Climbing Festival 3-5 June


Is Pembrokeshire one of the greatest climbing locations in the world? Well, we certainly think so, and if you’re on the fence, well get off and come along to the BMC Pembroke Climbing Festival where you’ll surely realise that, yes, it’s flipping brilliant.


BMC Dartmoor Climbing and Walking Festival 17-19 June


Famous for its unique and beautiful granite outcrops, its ponies and its mystery, Dartmoor National Park has everything an outdoor lover needs and more. If you’re a climber, hill walker, or just want a bit of social, come join us and hang out on the tors.


BMC Gower Climbing Festival 26-29 August


The BMC Gower Climbing Festival has been going since 2008! Regular attendees from all across the UK will confess to the delights of the Gower climbing, the fabulous scenery and the much- appreciated morning bacon rolls (veggie options available too!).


BMC WiltonFest 3 September


Is this Lancashire’s best kept secret? The ever popular WiltonFest is back for and as always we’ve got plenty of fun stuff for everyone to get involved with, from just turning up as independent climbers and sampling some of the finest quarried gritstone on offer in the UK, through to getting involved with courses and other organised activities.
