ith the recent announcement of the 2022 film competition submission date being extended until November, this has opened up the opportunity to begin this collaboration with the Brit Rock Film Tour. All entries wanting to be considered for the Brit Rock Film Tour opportunity must be submitted

by 1 August 2022. New awards for 2022

The award joins another new addition for the year, the Climate Action Award. This award will be presented to the team who produces a film specifically capturing the effects of climate change today either here in the UK or abroad. This might be a film that documents issues as wide ranging as a changing landscape, a long journey using public transport or an adventurer's perspective of tackling their own carbon footprint.

The award-winning director of Climbing Blind, Alastair Lee, commented: “We're very excited at this opportunity to bring the Women in Adventure program to the Brit Rock Film Tour. I'll be looking for original ideas and strong characters. Remember the story is paramount, the filmmaker's relationship with the subject is critical and emotional content trumps all the pretty pictures in the world. Use drones, use go pros, use 4k slow-motion or film it all on your phone, have an amazing soundtrack or no sound at all; they are all just tools, words in the filmmaker's language, not ends in themselves. Good luck!”

Volunteers are crucial to the BMC, we couldn't survive without volunteers giving their expertise, time and support. To ensure we're doing our best and meeting the needs of BMC volunteers we have put together a volunteer survey.

Lynn Robinson, former BMC President and volunteer-champion, said: “One of the greatest strengths of the BMC is the partnership between staff, volunteers and our partners. Ensuring our volunteer force is supported and recognised is one of our core priorities. Please do complete the survey as your views are really important to us."
