Voyages to Antiquity tipped for ‘rebirth’


Te boss of specialist one-ship cruise operator Voyages to Antiquity believes the line could be “reborn” aſter it announced last week it was to cease operations. Sailings will come to a close


next month aſter a year in which its 350-passenger Aegean Odyssey vessel suffered engine trouble, which caused 10 cruises to be cancelled, affecting 3,200 passengers including 2,000 Britons. Ten staff working at the line’s


headquarters in Oxford will lose their jobs when the line closes on October 31. In June, six staff were made redundant. However, managing director


Jos Dewing believes Voyages to Antiquity could be taken over by another operator and said there had been interest from potential buyers. He said: “Voyages to Antiquity


is a fantastic name in a very popular niche. I cannot rule out being reborn with another operator. Tere is interest.”

John Cooper, the face of Vision Cruise on TV advertising channels, has left the business. He was brand director for the cruise specialist for more than a decade. Liverpool-based former radio presenter Cooper revealed he was leaving after making his final broadcast on Sunday.
