All change for Travel
Foundation scheme The Travel Foundation wants businesses to sign up to its coin-collection box scheme before its ‘Summer for Change’ campaign gives way to winter. Holidaymakers place unused foreign coins in boxes and the change is used to help fund sustainable tourism projects in destinations. Midcounties Co-operative helped to develop the scheme and has more than 100 collection boxes in branches. To request a box for your branch, email graeme. jackson@thetravelfoundation.

Travel Counsellors TV
raises cash for Reuben’s Travel Counsellors began a 25-hour telethon on Tuesday to raise £25,000 for Reuben’s Retreat, which offers support services to families of children with life-limiting illnesses. The Comic Relief-style ‘Reu-athon my25’, broadcast on Travel Counsellors TV, marks the firm’s 25th anniversary. Travel Weekly editor-in-chief Lucy Huxley is among the guests and shows include TC Gogglebox, Corporate (Celebrity) Juice, Carpool Karaoke and Loose Women. Collette recruits
Howlett and Reid Collette has appointed two regional sales managers to its trade sales team. James Howlett (pictured) returns to the escorted tours specialist, after a period at Uniworld, to cover the north of England from October 14. Kirsty Reid (pictured) moves from Fred Olsen Cruise Lines to cover the south. Fred Holidays was appointed Collette’s UK GSA in July.

WIMBLEDON ACE: Swords Travel welcomed the mayor of Merton, councillor Janice Howard, to open its first high street shop, in Wimbledon, last week. The agency was set up in June 2016 and ran from Mark Swords’ home for 18 months before moving to offices in Wimbledon Park, where it hosts appointments with clients. Dale Marriott opens own agency in Manchester

Former Midcounties Co-operative Travel business development manager Dale Marriot is to open his own travel agency in Manchester on Saturday. Te Travel Hive will be in the
suburb of Monton. Its name and logo reference Manchester’s worker bee symbol, which was popularised in the industrial revolution and used as a symbol of solidarity aſter the May 2017 Manchester Arena bombing. Marriot, who leſt Midcounties in
July and previously spent six years as a trade sales executive at Jet2holidays, said he was inspired by his former colleague at the operator, Helen Parry, who set up Arundel Travel in Otley, Yorkshire, in 2017. He said: “I’ve wanted my own
