Travolution honours best in online and tech sector


Travel Weekly sister title Travolution presented 26 awards to top achievers at the Troxy in London last week. Lee Hayhurst reports


The winners of the 2017 Travolution Awards were announced last week with AirAsia chief executive Tony Fernandes CBE taking the top individual honour.


The annual ceremony, which honours the top achievers in the online travel and technology sectors, welcomed 450 guests to the Troxy in east London.

appearance from Oscar-nominated actress Helena Bonham Carter, star of the Harry Potter films. She was there to support chosen charity Broaden Out Their Horizons (Both), founded by teacher Martha Braggins, a childhood friend of Bonham Carter’s who is the founding patron of the charity. Both raises funds to organise


exchanges between school pupils in the UK and South Africa. The charity ran its first


exchange in 2014 with students from Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School in Islington visiting the Magoba School in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. A third exchange is being planned between The Urswick School in Hackney and the Ntafufu School in Lusikisiki, pupils from which visited the UK earlier this year.
