night culminating in honouring Fernandes who was named the 2017 Travolution Achievement Award winner. The Malaysian entrepreneur

bought AirAsia in 2001 from the Malaysian government for just 25p when it operated just two aircraft. He has since transformed it into a pioneer of budget flying in the Far East with affiliate carriers in China, Japan, Thailand, India, Indonesia and the Philippines, plus a sister long-haul airline. Fernandes joins the likes

of easyJet founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou, lastminute.com co-founder Brent Hoberman and Kayak co-founder Steve Hafner as recipients of the honour. Multiple-award-winners

this year were Cheapflights, Kiwi.com, Holiday Pirates, Love Holidays and Zen3, which all won two awards each. Cheapflights won the Best Use of Mobile and Best Use of Content Marketing awards; Kiwi.com was named Best Meta Search Website and was also picked out as the 2017 Rising Brand of the Year. Holiday Pirates won Best Use of Social Media for its impressive growth on Facebook and WhatsApp, and Best Blog; while Love Holidays scooped the Best Travel Agent Website gong and was named Brand of the Year having risen to become the UK’s second-biggest OTA. Indian technology firm Zen3

won the Best Use of Data and Best Technological Innovation awards for its Sayint call centre analytics platform developed in partnership with Teletext Holidays.

The other big individual winner of the night was James Lee, senior digital marketing manager at P&O Cruises, who was named Rising Star of the Year. The awards were handed out by comedian Rob Beckett.

We at Zen3 are delighted to receive not one but two Travolution awards. It’s a great

Elkie Nicholas, brand director and co-founder, RentalsCombined

We’re extremely honoured to be recognised by Travolution, especially as the competition

was so fierce. Winning would not have been possible without the great team at Cheapflights – thanks to everyone involved. Lydia Curtis, global digital campaigns manager, Cheapflights
