EATING AND DRINKING AT THE FAIR

For lunches, brunches, snacks or simply the opportunity for breakout meetings over coffee, there’s no shortage of venues within the exhibition halls, unsurprising given the reputation of Koelnmesse as an international leader in food fairs. As you’d expect in such a fast-paced environment, the majority are self-service, although there is a full-service option in the spacious, high-ceilinged Ampere. Every hall has at least one snack point, and with the likes of Pizzabar, Pastabar and Asia Wok among the eateries available, there is no shortage of choice. Opening times vary but operate between 9am and 6pm. There’s a Stand food service where exhibitors can order online and an event credit card to make payment easier.

INTERZUM AWARDS 2019

For the fi rst time, this year’s show includes fi ve award categories, instead of four. The new addition is Tiny Spaces, which considers solutions for the growth in compact living. The other categories are Materials and Surfaces, Fittings, Glass and Lighting, Upholstery Manufacture and Bedding and Mobile Spaces. Winners will be announced at the opening ceremony on Monday, May 20, as part of the “interzum party” at Theater am Tanzbrunnen. Winners have the opportunity to earn one of two distinction levels: High Product Quality which celebrates what the jury regards as “convincing” design achievements, while those considered outstanding and likely to raise the bar within the industry are named Best of the Best.
