An Innovative And Iconic Brand


Brompton Bikes is a manufacturer of distinctive folding bikes based in London. The business was established in 1975, when the inventor and founder, Andrew Ritchie, began creating prototypes of the bikes from his bedroom in South Kensington. It has since grown into the largest volume bicycle manufacturer in Britain. Each bike is hand-brazed by a skilled craftsman at their London factory, making each bike tough, durable and unique. Brompton is a truly innovative and iconic brand.


The Challenge


Looking to solve a challenging issue, Brompton Bikes came to Ngoar to create an engaging, intuitive solution that would help its customers make a more informed choice when purchasing a personalised Brompton bike online. The Brompton Bike Builder


needed to off er a better online user experience that would help and educate users, as well as give them a bike built entirely to their specifi ed requirements.


Each Brompton can be custom


made to the user’s exact specifi cation. They select from a range of colours, gearing options, riding styles and accessories to build the bike that is right for them. The challenge was to re-design


the entire bike builder user journey. This guided consumers through the Bike Builder experience and had to appeal to new online users and experienced, informed cyclists alike. The overall aim was to make


the customer journey more inclusive and fl uid, all the way through from start to delivery. Ultimately, Brompton wanted to increase its online traffi c and the resulting sales by making the Bike Builder simple and intuitive to use. Ngoar looked at the entire user journey, from pre-purchase, and personal bike confi guration to purchase and post-purchase support.


The Approach


Ngoar ran extensive and detailed scoping workshops with Brompton. These fi rstly focused on the initial wire framing, prototyping and design. The build phase centred on daily reviews with all the relevant
