Ride on the Steam Train Young ones will be captivated by the sounds and smells of the Dartmouth
Steam Railway. Historic engines pull carriages along seven miles of track from Kingswear to Paignton most days throughout
the year. In the winter, presents are handed out on Santa Special Trains and the famous Train of Lights takes to the rails at night. See page 36
Castle Cove beach Many explore as far as Dartmouth Castle without realising that just below them there’s
a little cove with a shingle beach, a hidden passage and plenty of rocks to climb. Locals regularly descend the 100 wooden steps to swim in the crystal clear water.
Get out on a kayak There are so many ways to get
about on the River Dart, but one
of the best is on a kayak. Sea Kayak Devon are a great team who take visitors on guided trips around the es- tuary. Explorers can find hidden coves, spot local wildlife, go wild swimming and roast marshmallows on a beach campfire. See advert back cover
