The most popular Devon homes
Think of Devon and you’ll imagine rolling green hills, woodland walks, golden beaches, quayside pubs and picture postcard villages. No wonder nearly 6 million people visit the area every year.
Since we opened The Coastal House 17 years ago, we’ve sold some truly unique homes, from stone- built seaside cottages to contemporary barn conversions, and farmhouses to country estates.
But which Devon homes are the most popular and have sold for the highest prices in recent years?
Figures have revealed that more than 70 houses sold for more than a million pounds in the South Hams over the past year. Data from HM Land Registry shows that 22 of these sales were in Dartmouth, 19 were in Kingsbridge, 16 in Salcombe, eight in Totnes, four in South Brent, and one in Ivybridge, totting up to 72 in the South Hams area.
1. Country estates: large period homes with impressive architecture and sprawling gardens.
2. Farmhouses: renovated and modernised, often with long-reaching countryside and coastal views. 3. Barn conversions with unique character, spacious layouts, and beautiful rural surroundings.
So, what are buyers looking for right now in the South Devon?
In short, the best of both worlds! Country homes with period features in coastal locations, BUT with superfast broadband, power shower and all mod cons!
And it’s definitely possible, with the right budget.
