EVERY SINGLE PICTURE WITHOUT ANY EXCEPTION, IS TAKEN FROM ONE PLACE... THE VIEW FROM THE DARTMOUTH OFFICE
From up in their lofty office in Above Town, Andy and Helen Kyle have the most amazing view. Every day something unusual occurs before their eyes (and luckily for us, their camera lens). This page has a small selection of goings-on in, around and above the River Dart. On their
website
www.TheViewFromTheDartmouthOffice.com you’ll find ‘000’s of pictures from the past sixteen years - an astonishing archive of life here in wonderful Dartmouth. If you can’t remember the website name just type ‘Dartmouth view’ into Google.
04-03-2026 - 10:57:25 The two huge scaffold tents in Above Town are coming down. Not a job for the faint hearted. Don’t worry if you think you’ll miss them, there’s a third one just been erected down by Warfleet.
23-02-2026 - 13:25:54 The delivery of the carriage/cabin for the new funicular railway across the river. One of the very few, possibly the only, private residence funicular in the country. And here it is, in Kingswear.
25-03-2026 - 09:44:16 Bright and early one morning a French Navy ship Jaguar popped in. Within an hour two more ships had arrived, all on navigational training. In and out they went time and time again, each time with a different officer training on the azimuth circle to set a safe course.
25-03-2026 - 15:01:08 Meanwhile....whilst one officer at a time was using the compass, others found alternative duties. C’est un traction. Also known as un pull up.
25-02-2026 - 12:34:35 A very intriguing vessel got a run out in February. Watched over by a drone and its own camera boat. Likely a V.I.B. Very Important Boat. It’s definitely a USV - an uncrewed surface vessel. Looks fearsome, but that’s down to the menacing colour and the forward facing barrel.
07-04-2026 - 18:37:43 It’s been a while since we’ve had regular visits from a Chinook, and here’s the second in a week. A visit to BRNC then a low, very low run, barrelling down the river and finally off along the south coast to the east.
