This year, Lube Magazine asked our readers to nominate who they thought were the most influential figures in the lubricants industry today. Over the next two issues, we are happy to present your choices, listed in alphabetical order by company.


Gina Harm, President, Afton Chemical Joining Afton Chemical in 2007, since 2015 Gina Harm held the position of senior vice president and chief operating officer of Afton Chemical, finally being promoted to President of the Afton Chemical Corporation in 2018.


Ho Leng Woon, Chairman, ALMU and AP Oil International Ltd As both Chairman of AP Oil International Ltd and, since 2018, Council Chairman of the Asian Lubricant Manufacturers Union, Ho Leng Woon is uniquely positioned to oversee the Asian lubricant market; drawing upon almost 40 years’ worth of experience in the lubricants industry.


Marco Digioia, President, ATIEL With 14 years of experience of lobbying on behalf of transport organisations in Brussels, Marco Digioia was appointed President of ATIEL – the representative body for manufacturers and marketers in the European lubricants industry – in 2018, drawing upon in-depth knowledge of working within the EU towards both economic and sustainability targets.


Marc Blaser, CEO, Blaserswisslube Taking over as CEO of the family business, Blaserswissube, in 2010, Marc Blaser follows in the footsteps of his father Peter and grandfather Willy. Maintaining, in his words, “an open approach within the company as well as with customers”, Marc Blaser is committed producing innovative human compatible and environmentally friendly lubricant products.

Dame Angela Strank, Chief scientist and head of technology, downstream, BP With a career at BP spanning almost 40 years, Dame Angela Strank was appointed to her current position in 2018 and is responsible for technology across BP’s petrochemicals, refining, fuels and lubricants businesses. She was honoured with her title in 2017 for services to the oil industry and women in science.


Tracey Gardiner, Vice President, Base Oils, Chevron Base Oils Tracey Gardiner began at the company in 2000 as the Caltex commercial development manager. Now, in her current position, Tracey Gardiner is responsible for developing Chevron’s business practices to adapt to the ever-evolving technology and regulation of the lubricants industry.


Alan Outhwaite, Global Business Development Manager, Chevron Base Oils Throughout his 35 year career, Alan Outhwaite has had many roles in the lubricants industry. Joining Chevron in 1994 as a product engineer responsible for automotive and industrial lubricants, in 2005 he joined Chevron’s Global Base Oil team as Business Development Manager, responsible for Chevron’s base oil strategy in Europe.
