He closed by saying ‘Our industry, along with the rest of the world, is undergoing major transformation. But I am sure that with the resilience, energy and ingenuity which this industry has demonstrated in the past, we can look forward to a prosperous and sustainable future for this industry for many years to come’.

The President’s Charity is the very worthy Parkinson’s UK and this year UKLA events have raised nearly £5,000 with part of the dinner’s tickets sales being donated towards the charity. Of course events like these would not be possible without the support of our sponsors, thanks must go to our headline sponsor SBZ who also supplied the wonderful table gifts and to all our other sponsors for their kind generosity in making this event the occasion it has become.

A highlight of the evening is always the industry’s annual awards. This year the President’s Award, sponsored by Infineum, was given to Nigel Bottom in recognition of his time and contributions to both the UKLA board and through his role on the UEIL Technical and Competition Committee.

his current position in charge of Witham’s online sales facility. Ian has graduated from the UKLA CLC programme with a distinction and is a participant in the UKLA Registered Lubricant Professional scheme.

Kevin Williams, Multisol Group received the Special Award of Council for his services to the UEIL Technical and Competition Committee until his recent retirement.

A very special award was given to Tim Bates who was given an Honorary Life Membership of the UKLA in recognition of the work, dedication and determination with which he carried out his role on the UEIL Technical and Competition Committee as well as the VLS Supervisory Board.

The Young Employee of the Year Award, sponsored by IMCD was given this year in memory of former colleague Dr. Stephen Rosenthal who sadly passed away shortly before the dinner. The winner was Ian Wright, Witham Group. Ian joined Witham as part of a local government work scheme at 15 and has worked his way from the Manufacturing plant to

Now it was time for the more relaxed part of the evening to begin. The James Bond casino lounge provided the perfect networking backdrop; glamour, fun and conversation followed, and guests lingered until the early hours of the morning, clearly reluctant for the night to end...

Be warned, this year’s tickets sold out in March within weeks of being announced; order early for 2019 or risk disappointment.
