Your favourite cover from the past 30 years? I’ll have to say September 2017 – a hot pink masthead with a grey kitchen? I’m here for it. And your favourite since you’ve worked here? I really like the November 2018 cover – it’s such a striking, industrial space, with the mezzanine level and the high ceiling. And don’t get me started on the insect tiles… yes, please. Your favourite product from the last 30 years? The Rotofarm from Australian company Bace – it looks like a big hamster wheel which can grow herbs and salad in zero gravity. I’ve told all my friends about it. What’s your favourite trend or look? A simple Scandinavian-inspired style – it’s cosy but unfussy, which is exactly what I like. I’m predicting this will come back… Uber-maximalist Victoriana, with all the black walls, velvets, and weird art. At least I really hope it does. I’m predicting this won’t come back… Blow-up furniture. We’ve made that questionable decision once – and I still don’t know what we were thinking. The future holds… A shift in how we use smart home technology – with more privacy in mind, but also lots more opportunities. I can’t wait for my bed to tell me off for being awake too long.

STEPS TO PLANNING AND BUYING YOUR NEW BATHROOM

Scandi style is... simple and unfussy, but still far from boring

Your favourite cover from the past 30 years? January 2013. I love the big open-plan space and the large doors inviting you in. The touches of letterbox red help the image pop, too. And your favourite since you’ve worked here? September 2019 was one of the first covers I worked on not long after I joined the KBB team, so I have a soft spot for it. Your favourite product from the last 30 years? The latest Kitchenaid mixer (although, I know it’s technically based on an appliance that is older than 30 years). I don’t know where I’d be without mine – I love to bake for the team. What’s your favourite trend or look? Green kitchens – well, green anything really. I also love Mid- century modern design with clean lines and timeless appeal. I’m predicting this will come back…. Glass bricks – that 80s trend that was everywhere. Paired with a Memphis-inspired colour pallette or terrazzo tiles I think they’ll be back on the scene in the not-so-distant future. I’m predicting this won’t come back… The water bed. What were we thinking? I can’t imagine this was ever comfortable and definitely not practical. The future holds… I think it will focus on sustainability– it’s something that’s becoming increasingly more important to many of us.
