Roca has developed the Senceramic material on its Cratos shower trays, while sister company Laufen has its Pro Marbond shower trays. These bespoke materials are an alternative to the classic acrylic tray. Their resistance to wear, hygiene and ease of cleaning come from the materials rather than extra coatings, the company says.
Anyone who has ever filled out a health and safety form knows that slips come before trips and falls. But reducing trips also lies in how the product is installed. A flush shower tray can help with that, like Duravit’s Stonetto or Tempano or the seamless Kaldewei Superplan Zero.
Flexibility
It is difficult to know where to start when designing a suitable space with so
many wet-room options. The
flexibility of the wet room space means that there is much scope for personalisation, but the market has many new trends. Stuart West, sales director at Novellini,
explains current popular
styles: “Square grills with mosaic tiles have evolved towards a single fall wet room with a long-liner drain to the long wall. These would normally be used in conjunction with larger tiles, but with no cuts. This evolution in the market has come about so the drain can be away from the feet. Other market trends at the moment include the frameless
or coloured grilles that
match the on-trend enclosures or other brassware colours.”

Retailers can
communicate how the space can be used flexibly for family members of all ages, from children to the elderly. In addition, the wetroom layout can be adapted to suit changing needs with a

offers accessible functionalities for all family members while also creating a sanctuary for wellness and hygiene.” UK bathrooms are notoriously small, but wet rooms can open up the bathroom and make it feel less cramped. Nick Graville, sales and marketing director at Kudos, says: “Whether creating a full wet room, or dividing off wet areas in the bathroom, a wet room results in a seamless floor that offers the illusion of space and that’s easy to clean.”
Thanks to their straightforward
design, wet rooms lend themselves to a minimalistic approach yet still offer a wealth of functionality.
“As homeowners become more confident with their design choices and consider the future when designing a bathroom, wet rooms are
becoming increasingly popular,” says Paul Bailey, leader, product management UK, Lixil Emena and Grohe UK.
“Offering sleek, minimalistic lines, a desirable open space, large overhead showers and even options for wall- mounted body sprays, a wet room
Accessible
There is a certain amount of versatility in a wet room as there is more space for mobility aids – or indeed just aids to help the whole family – from someone wanting to be seated to shave their legs to helping a child wash.
