65 Putting the spotlight on HealthTech Health technology (HealthTech) is a key partner to healthcare services around the world. It enables improved efficiencies and effectiveness across a system, with investment in the latest devices, digitisation and diagnostic technologies delivering significant benefits to patient care, cutting waiting times and alleviating workforce burdens.
69 Sparkling innovations for improving health Digitalisation is striding forward in Germany, and visitors to this year’s Medica can see for themselves a broad range of healthcare technology, ranging from wearables for direct use on the body to smartphone apps for prevention, diagnostics and therapy.
73 Medica 2019 exhibitor profiles A broad range of UK companies will be exhibiting at Medica 2019, between 18 to 21 November in Düsseldorf, Germany. The Clinical Services Journal provides a preview of just some of the technical innovations, clinical services, products and medical devices on show.

For nearly half a century, the Medica trade fair has been the leading platform for providing insight into the latest trends, regulations, research and medical products. This year, the world’s biggest medical trade
fair takes place from 18 to 21 November 2019 in Düsseldorf, and will play host to more than 5000 exhibitors, with visitors expected from around 170 countries. Running alongside Medica is the supplier
trade fair, Compamed, which has evolved into a hotspot for high-tech solutions in medical technology manufacturing. Halls 8a and 8b will be represented by at least 800 exhibitors from around 40 countries. According to Wolfram Diener, managing
director of Messe Düsseldorf, there will be three key areas of focus at the trade fair: digitalisation; interconnectivity; and pioneering spirit. The Clinical Services Journal will have a strong
presence at the show, and this guide is designed to provide you not only with information on the event, but industry insight into the show’s areas of focus. We discover why healthcare businesses must constantly adapt and improve to successfully operate within an unparalleled era of technological advancements. Elsewhere, we explore a digital faecal occult blood testing device which is being launched at Medica, and the Association of British HealthTech Industries (ABHI) describes its role as a membership body to support the HealthTech community. There is also an overview of the digital health
applications and paired medical technology on offer at the show, and we look at what’s on offer from some of the UK exhibitors, who will be showcasing the latest products, services and innovations. We hope you find this guide helpful and we look forward to seeing you at the show.
