Industry event showcases innovation and marks governance milestones

Following an immensely successful and record-breaking Healthcare Estates in late October 2025, the Institute would like to extend its sincere thanks to all those who attended, exhibited, and presented at this industry leading event.

In addition to over 7,500 visitors, the conference and exhibition days saw growth against previous years in number of exhibitors, with 97% of attendees agreeing that the quality of exhibitors was good or excellent, and 95% rating the relevance to the sector of topics covered in the conference as good or excellent. Those attending the Gala Dinner event after the first day of the conference enjoyed the presentation of the IHEEM Awards, following after-dinner speaker, journalist, broadcaster and former politician, Michael Portillo. Collections were taken on the night for Macmillan Cancer Support, with funds raised exceeding £10,000 – a sum generously matched by event co-organisers Step Exhibitions. The Healthcare Estates conference also saw the formalising of two landmark governance milestones for the Institute. Director and Head of Profession of NHS Estates and Facilities Simon Corben and IHEEM CEO Pete Sellars signed a momentous contract cementing

IHEEM as the sole owners and overseers of NHSE’s Authorising Engineers Register going forwards. The move signifies a great step forward for the compliance and standards required of Authorising Engineers, allowing for centralised management of the process, ensuring consistency and transparency throughout.
