TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT Insight
DRIVING GROWTH THROUGH CPD
2025 saw IHEEM members take advantage of the extensive range of free CPD and professional development opportunities on offer via the Institute, with many also opting to combine learning with adopting positions of responsibility within the Institute.
W
ebinars were delivered online by company affiliates and in branch- led CPD sessions, with over 400
members and non-members attending throughout the year, gaining insight and knowledge sharing across a range of topics relevant to the sector. Branch members also benefitted from site visits to regional hospitals, developments, and organisations with members able to engage with success stories, challenges, and innovation at local level.
Members who joined the expanding pool of IHEEM mentors and professional registration reviewers took part in dedicated training sessions, with some attendees embarking on a new venture, whilst others were able to strengthen existing skills. In all cases, the training delivered ensures a high standard of
understanding and application required by the institute, and consistency of approach, vital for compliance and member assurance regarding conduct and approach to both processes.
Whilst there is no singular motivation for members to undertake roles of responsibility within the Institute as part of accreditation review or within the IHEEM Mentor Scheme, a common thread reflected on by many attendees was the desire to give back to the engineering community, as well as a professional commitment to upholding standards and delivering excellence in patient care.
Post seminar support
The Healthcare Estates programme included a CPD Record new for 2025,
allowing delegates to detail sessions attended and learning outcomes in real time, with session codes connecting attendees to recordings of presentations after the event, underscoring the value and importance of ongoing and reflective learning. The closing session of the conference, titled ‘Where Do We Go From Here?’ gave further opportunity and an open forum for delegates to share thoughts on the conference theme, ‘Prevention is Better Than Cure’, and share ideas on incorporating lessons learned into strategy, policy, and governance moving forwards. Looking ahead at 2026, the Institute
continues in its commitment to supporting member development and upskilling, with a further extended programme of training and CPD sessions available and scheduled
