Online gaming is one of the fastest growing segments within the broader entertainment industry, where many forms of entertainment that once took place only in the physical world are going fully digital. Streaming services, digital downloads and new form factors are all creating challenges and opportunities for gaming operators and businesses – but the disruption is even more pronounced in online gaming due to the centrality of payments and identity to the overall experience.

Operators need to strive to remove friction from the payment process to facilitate an immersive and enjoyable gaming experience. With smaller value – and more frequent – in-app purchases on


the rise, it is particularly important that lengthy interactions around payments and identification requirements are reduced to an absolute minimum. Te reward for operators who succeed is increased revenue – so the imperative for prioritising payments is clear.
