ITALY – Betsoft Gaming has widened its footprint in the Italian regulated market, entering into a new content partnership with international slots and sportsbook institution Stanleybet.
The agreement is extensive: every game in Betsoft’s sought-after Slots3 series – all ADM / AAMS certified – has now been added to the Stanleybet online platform, ready for release to the operator’s Italian players.
Founded in 1958, Stanleybet is firmly established as a leader in sports betting and slot gaming. Today, the company employs 3,000 people across the EU, catering to online and land-based markets in Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Malta, Romania, the UK, and more.
Building on 60 years’ experience in tightly-regulated retail markets, Stanleybet now sees its online operations as a forge for new ideas and innovations, as Annamaria Anastasi, Marketing Director at Betsoft Gaming explained: “iGaming is an opportunity for Stanleybet to celebrate their heritage, honour their long commitment to fair play and responsible betting, and explore new opportunities. Although the agreement is initially confined to the Italian regulated market, Stanleybet aims to expand its online offer to new regulated markets in the near future, supported by marquee content from the Betsoft portfolio.
GERMANY – Merkur Spielbanken Sachsen-Anhalt, a joint venture between the Gauselmann Group and the Swiss Stadtcasino Baden, has received permission from the City of Halle in Saale to build a €4.5m casino in the historic premises on Franckestraße 1. The Merkur Spielbank Halle will cover a total area of 800 sq. m. and will house 85 slots along with electronic roulette. Halle will be the group’s third casino location after Leuna- Günthersdorf opened in 2014 and Magdeburg in 2016.
David Schnabel, Managing Director of Merkur Spielbanken, said: "With the approval, work on the Merkur Spielbank Halle can now begin in a timely manner. We are very happy to be able to realise the blueprints now. After the very successful development of the two casinos in Leuna- Günthersdorf and Magdeburg, the implementation of another location was the next logical step.”

Strong performances at its casinos in Gruissan, Châtel- Guyon, and Capvern, helped push French casino operator SFC’s turnover up 9.7 per cent to €11.7m in the first half of 2018.
Te like-for-like comparison has removed the 2017 financial contribution of the group’s casino in Chamonix-Mont- Blanc which has since been sold. It is in the process of offloading its 49 per cent ownership in Société Franco- Belgian de Casinos, which owns casinos in Port Leucate, Briançon and Carnac in partnership with Belgian operator Circus.

Codere’s estate of gaming machines increased by 2.4 per cent to 56,571 machines, up from the 55,263 in the fourth quarter of 2017 with Spain’s machine total seeing a 5.1 per cent increase and Mexico’s a 4.4 per cent increase. During the period, Codere operated 148 gambling halls, an increase of four whilst its sports betting positions increased 46.6 per cent to 6,227.
