Te 20 year licence to the new group will replace the current agreement with Cogit group and see the casino relocated from its current seafront home.
Te Ginestet Group has built its success primarily from its budget gift stores Gifi and has recently acquired Tati stores. Tis diversification to the world of tourism or leisure is not a first for Philippe Ginestet, as in 2011 he bought a castle in Saint-Sylvestre sur Lot, a few kilometers from the headquarters of the group, and transform it into a 4-star, multi-coloured hotel, called the Stelsia, with a spa and a restaurant displaying a Michelin star. Mr. Ginestet has surrounded himself with partners from the casino sector, with whom he has been working since 2014. For over five years, the municipality of Mimizan has wanted to move the casino into the ZAC Hournails, where it has a building to accommodate it. Spain Gaming in Navarra reaches record high
According to the Regional Council of Navarra a total of €342.19m in 2017 was gambled on lotteries, slot machines and sports betting increasing 5.16 per cent compared to 2016. At the same time the tax treasury of Navarre received a record total of €10m in fees derived from privately run gaming.
In what was a banner year for the industry slot machines continued to be the most popular form of gambling with spend standing at €127.8m last year - an increase of (5.25 per cent), while locals gambled €74m via sports betting terminals.
Spending on this vertical showed a very impressive increase of 73.87 per cent in the period 2013-2017 (increasing from €42.56m) while the total played via slots grew in the same period by 8.07 per cent (growing from €118.26m to €127.80m).
As for bingos, this decreased slightly by 1.13 per cent from €14.85m to €14.68m in 2017. Meanwhile lottery games managed by public lottery business entity Te Sociedad Estatal Loterías y Apuestas del Estado (SELAE) attracted €107.79m from Navarrese players last year (up 2.74 per cent), while it stood at €17.92m for games managed by the ONCE lottery (the lottery in aid of the blind) which increased by 2.4 per cent.

Te Gauselmann Group has agreed a sponsorship deal with Düsseldorfer EG that will see its betting brand XTiP Sports Betting appear on the ICE hockey teams shirts next season. Te logo of the subsidiary XTiP will be present on both home and away jerseys. In addition, XTiP will advertise at games of the Dusseldorf EG.
