What are China’s intentions for Macau’s concessionaire holders?


Macau is the world’s most densely populated area with 20,848.01 people per square kilometre, more densely populated than Tokyo or any other vast megalopolis. On January 24, 2018, casino magnate Steve Wynn, head of Wynn Resorts, said he was confident that his casino business in Macau would continue beyond the expiration of casino concessions in 2020. He told analysts that his confidence came from talks with the government in Macau. “We have been given reason to have confidence that our businesses will continue after the initial concession expiration dates,” he said. “Tat confidence is based upon the kind of conversations we have had with the government.” Wynn said that China was adamant about stability and did not like ‘disruptions.’ On January 27, 2018, the Wall Street Journal revealed the scale of sexual misconduct allegations levelled at Mr. Wynn from


those within the workplace at Wynn Resorts. On February 6, 2018, Mr. Wynn announced his resignation as CEO of Wynn Resorts.
