Following the conclusion of the 21st edition of the FIFA World Cup, an analysis of betting turnover was carried out by FIFA and Sportradar. Tis analysis found that total global betting turnover for the tournament was an estimated €136bn and no match manipulation behaviour was detected.

Sportradar’s Fraud Detection System monitored over 550 betting operators worldwide, generating some alerts during the competition, which are easily explained by markets adjusting the opening odds after the first match or two were played.
Following an in-depth, qualitative analysis of the overall volume and movement odds within the betting market, no matches at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia were found to be suspicious of match manipulation or betting fraud.

Te Belgian Gambling Commission is to suspend Ladbrokes gaming license for 24 hours on September 3rd. Te Gaming Commission issued the sanction against the Belgian branch of Ladbrokes for offering unauthorised virtual betting to its clients in 2017 and 2018. No in-agency or online bets may be placed with Ladbrokes in Belgium on this day. Te company’s 300 Belgian agencies, the roughly 100 bookstores linked to it and all Ladbrokes’ digital operations will be suspended for 24 hours. Te sanction affects both Tiercé Ladbroke SA and Derby SA, the Belgian daughter company of Ladbrokes PLC. Virtual sporting bets were tolerated from 2012 to June 2017. However, Ladbrokes continued to offer virtual betting to its clients up to March 14, 2018, even though it was banned by law. Te Gaming Commission initiated a sanctions procedure that led to the 24-hour suspension. Te Commission noted that the company “has not contested the materiality of the facts.”
