Franchise deal with InvenSense eases access to advanced sensor technology

InvenSense, a world leader in MEMS sensor platforms, is the latest vendor to sign a franchise deal with Avnet Abacus. Acquired by TDK Corporation in May 2016, the company’s fl agship 6-axis and 9-axis motion sensors, coupled with an expanded portfolio that includes inertial, environmental, microphone, and ultrasonic sensors, are used in some of the world’s most advanced consumer products and applications.

Its patented MotionFusion® technology, audio

solutions, and location software and services provide accuracy, and intuitive motion, gesture, and sound based interfaces, meaning that consumers can more easily interact with their electronic devices.

“Avnet Abacus already partners successfully with TDK through both the TDK and EPCOS brands. Adding InvenSense to the Avnet Abacus line card is therefore a natural move that will quickly benefi t customers in Europe, providing more choice and expert technical advice to ease product selection.”

Alan Jermyn, Vice President European Marketing, Avnet Abacus

Smartphones, drones, wearables, gaming, inertial navigation, and optical and electronic image stabilisation for cameras are just some of the application areas where InvenSense’s MotionTracking and complementary audio solutions are making their mark. Consumer demand for indoor navigation, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Augmented Reality, for example, is also driving opportunities in the IoT, automotive and industrial sectors, where sensors are a key enabling technology.
