The industry’s lowest power Bluetooth low energy module: PAN1760A from Panasonic


The new PAN1760A module benefi ts from a peak power consumption of only 3.3mA in Tx and Rx mode, enabling mesh networking solutions in IoT, medical, and industrial applications without compromising battery life. Mandatory and optional Bluetooth 4.2 features are supported.


The SMD module (15.6mm x 8.7mm x 1.9mm) is based on Toshiba’s single chip TC35678 Bluetooth semiconductor device with an embedded Toshiba Bluetooth 4.2 LE stack and embedded fl ash for user applications in stand-alone operation. The PAN1760A product can be operated in AT-command or host mode for very simple integration of Bluetooth connectivity into existing products, or in stand-alone mode. In stand-alone mode, the PAN1760A can be used for many applications without the need for an external processor, saving cost, complexity, and space.

Pascal Meier, Product Manager at Panasonic said: “Design engineers will easily be able to migrate towards Bluetooth 5.0 from using Panasonic’s PAN1760A, PAN1026A and PAN1761, as all versions share the same footprint and required code changes are only very minor. Previously developed software (Bluetooth low energy profi les and applications) can also easily be migrated with minimal effort. All major certifi cations are available for the PAN1760A module”.
