LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

Essen event opens the door to growth for plastics recyclers

After months of preparation, the Plastics Recycling World Exhibition will make its debut in Essen Germany on 27-28 June. The exhibition is free to enter and visitors also have free access to the conferences taking place on the show floor. AMI has adapted its high-value approach to events for the Plastics Recycling World Exhibition, to deliver conference streams of high-quality speakers discussing key issues, including the European Commission’s Plastics Strategy, plus the latest innovations to help plastics recyclers grow and seize the market opportunities that are arising. The opening conference session is on the future

legislative landscape of recycling within the EU’s Circular Economy with participation from Steptoe & Johnson’s Anna Gergely, RPC-BPI Group External Affairs Director Mike Baxter, Müller-Guttenbrunn Group Public Affairs and E-Waste Manager Chris Slijkhuis, and Nextek Managing Director Edward Kosior. The future of End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) recycling

will be explored by WIPAG Deutschland General Manager Peter Weidemann, Fraunhofer ICT Department for Polymer Engineering Deputy Director Jan Diemert, and Veolia’s Van Scherpen- zeel Group Managing Director Roger Beuting. Packaging recycling issues will be discussed

by Sloop Consulting Managing Director Graham Houlder, Ghent University Professor Kim Ragaert, and Suez Director Business Innovation Recycling and Recovery Christine Levêque. And development of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) recycling will be explored by Galloo Plastics Marketing Director Jannick Sercu, Fraun- hofer IVV Business Field Manager Recycling and Environment Martin Schlummer, Axion Polymers Business Development Director Keith Freegard, and CoolRec Manager Plastics Tessa Slagter. Visitors to the Plastics Recycling World Exhibi- tion also benefit from its co-location with Com- pounding World Expo. The growing trend for recyclate to be incorporated into polymer com- pounds means that plastics recyclers want to find out more about compounding processes, while established compounders are keen to learn about issues with using recycled plastics. I look forward to meeting readers of AMI’s magazines at the Plastics Recycling World Exhibi- tion. See you there! Register for free HERE.
