New Teknor Apex site in


Germany Teknor Apex is to build a new facility at Rothen- burg ob der Tauber, Germany. Covering 15,000m2


, this will


increase the capacity of custom compounder Plastic-Technologie-Ser- vice (PTS), which Teknor Apex acquired one year ago, and will also be a new European centre for plastics R&D. Ground-breaking is


expected to take place by spring 2018 and start-up is expected by the summer of 2019. Existing production activity at nearby Steinsfeld and the sales and marketing operation at Tauberzell will both be relocated to the new site. The Rothenburg facility will produce TPEs and ETPs, from general purpose compounds to highly specialised formulations. � www.teknorapex.com


Arburg builds large training centre

Arburg officially marked the start of groundwork for its new training centre at Lossburg, Germany, on 13 July. The new multi-storey building will provide 13,700m2


of usable space,


bringing the total to 180,000. It represents an investment of “several tens of millions of euros”, the company stated. Managing partner Michael Hehl said that the investment was “a clear sign of our commitment to Lossburg as a production location and demonstrates our long-term, goal-orient-


ed strategy”. Since 2007, Arburg has also built a customer centre, an assembly hall, a multi-storey car park and a trade fair logistics hall at the site. The new site features space for around 15 Allrounder injection moulding machines for practical training on the ground floor and 12 rooms for general training needs on the first floor. The next two floors will have open plan offices for administra- tive staff, while the top floor will house Arburg’s com- pany health management


services. A new staff entrance is also being built. Following company


tradition, Arburg had a stone-laying ceremony and buried a stainless steel capsule in the foundations. This contained building plans and lists of those involved in the project, the latest editions of Arburg’s customer magazine and in-house newsletter as well as of the local newspaper, the Schwarzwälder Bote, a two euro coin dated 2017, aerial shots of the plant and photos of the partners. � www.arburg.com


KraussMaffei and Roctool to work together


Injection moulding machin- ery giant KraussMaffei and France’s Roctool have concluded a ‘global collaboration agreement’ that extends their three-year cooperation in marketing HD Plastics, Roctool’s inductive mould heating technology. KraussMaffei will now offer all of its injection moulding ma- chines with this option, as part of its Dynamic Mould

Heating (DMH) technology. The two companies said


that they “expect to open up new markets and applica- tions as a result of the cooperation along with the outstanding design options provided by this technol- ogy”. The combination of HD Plastics and DMH is said to offer wide-ranging options for design and construction, while remain- ing highly cost-efficient.
