SINGLE-SERVE CAPSULES 2017 | EVENT PREVIEW


Kittelmann, Vice President at Marbach Werkzeug- bau, will wrap up the session with a presentation of high output tooling for single serve cups in PP. The first day of the conference will be brought to a close with an examination of barrier technology. Ruediger Grings, Key Account Manager for Greiner Packaging in Switzerland, will present a paper covering its inert barrier technology. Didier Houssier, Global Business Development Manager at Kuraray EVAL Europe in Belgium, will detail current and future recyclable barrier solutions for the coffee capsules business based on EVOH barrier materials. And Thierry Fabozzi, Managing Director – PTI Europe at Plastic Technologies Inc in Switzerland, will speak about a number of different barrier solutions for capsules.


Product innovation The second day of the conference will take a look at some innovative capsule product introductions. Richard Hardwick, Founder of Halo Coffee in the UK, will detail its introduction of compostable coffee capsules, then Charll van Veen, Unit Manager Single Serve Brewing Systems at Royal FrieslandCampina Kievit in the Netherlands, will discuss its combination of dairy and coffee and how this is now being achieved in single-serve capsules. Effective solutions and potential for thermofor- med capsules will be examined by Claus Weinert, Area Sales Manager & Product Manager at Illig Maschinenbau in Germany, while Rolf Mühle- mann, Managing Director of Fostag Formenbau in Switzerland, will discuss techniques for production of co-injection capsules with in mould labelling. Opportunities for compression moulding of capsules will be explored by Stefano Chiozzini, Sales Area Manager for SACMI in Italy. The final sessions of the conference will examine


new material developments with a focus on various approaches to sustainability. Dr Simon Kniesel, Manager Product Development Engineering Plastics at BASF in Germany, will speak about polyesters and how they can be used in the single serve capsule market. Opportunities presented by bio-based polybutylene succinate in compostable single serve capsules will be explained by Fabien Resweber, VP Sales & Marketing at PTT MCC Biochem in Thailand. Souvik De, Technical Man- ager for Soarno, and Yasuhiro Hirano, Technical Manager for G-Polymer (both from Nippon Gosei Europe in Germany) will discuss barrier options. The conference will be brought to a close by Sam Deconinck, Marketing & Sales Manager for OWS in Belgium, who will present details of organic recycling of single-serve capsules.
