Arburg will premiere the All- rounder 520 H, which is the second machine size with new hybrid machine technology to be presented by the company this year. In spring 2023, the Allround- er 470 H milestone machine was unveiled at anniversary events to mark 100 years of the Hehl family company. At Fakuma, sizes 520 and 570 will be available in the new hybrid series. The machines combine an energy-efficient electric clamping unit with a hydraulic injection unit. Arburg says: “The new hybrid Allrounders still boast significantly reduced acquisition and operating costs, plus a smaller carbon footprint, and are available in the Comfort, Premium, and Ultimate performance variants.” Arburg’s theme is “There is only a Plan A” which will encompass sustainability, digitalisation, automation and energy efficiency. In the ArburgSo- lutionWorld section of its stand, a 4m-high LED column will show Arburg’s Action Plan: Energy, which includesenergy advice, machine updates and consumption measurements to help custom- ers save resources and energy. Machine demonstrations include two-compo- nent injection moulding on an Allrounder More 1600, equipped with two electric injection units, which will produce a container made of thermo- plastic (PBT) and liquid silicone (LSR). The LSR dosing unit from Reinhardt Technik is integrated into the Gestica control system via OPC UA and the Euromap interface 82.3. �

Bexte Kunststoff-Technik (BKT) is introducing a new type of infrared heating system for screw barrels at Fakuma. The quartz halogen tubes in the alloy metal heater bands emit IR rays in optical waves with

high temperature control onto the barrel during the plasticising process. The energy loss to the outside is extremely low, says BKT. The IR system reaches the appropriate process temperature in about half the time required by conventional heater bands. The technology can be used by all makes of injection moulding machine and with all thermoplastic materials, since the installation of the IR system is “plug-and-play”. �

A demonstration by Boy at Fakuma in partnership with Igus will focus on reducing cycle time. Boy says sprue picker automation can add about 1.25 s to cycle time, since the new cycle can only start once the picker has moved out of the mould area. Igus has developed a compact sprue picker suitable for Boy XS and XS E injection moulding machines which enables articles and sprues to be separated from each other directly at the machine, without extending the cycle time. The sprue picker is positioned under the ejection chute. From there, the injection-moulded parts fall onto a separator which is a rotating disc. An integrated camera detects the sprues on the separator and a gantry robot picks them up with a gripper. If the sprue and the article still have to be separated from each other, the article is separated by a device and falls into a box, while the sprues are ejected separately. Meanwhile, the injection moulding machines can continue production without any restrictions. �
