POM, PBT, ABS, PARA and PA6GF. In addition to UL94 HB certification for entire polymer classes, Finke offers individual certification of masterbatches for more demanding applications such as high- performance technical polymers in applications that require a higher fire resistance classification. Materials group Avient developed a polymer

materials solutions platform for electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) applications for the North American market. The portfolio of EVSE polymer solutions includes colourants, additives and specialty engineered materials that can improve the performance and aesthetics of Level 1,2 and direct current EV charging stations. According to Mayendran Pillay, Marketing

A formulation in the new product family, ELTech

Orange 2003 PBT, is specifically designed for high voltage E&E equipment, where electrical connec- tors used in applications in EVs often face severe service conditions, including extremes in voltage and temperatures. Preserving colour stability in these applications is critical to ensure identification of high voltage hazards. The ELTech Orange 2003 PBT formulation meets

RAL 2003 Orange colour specifications to provide easy identification of high voltage hazards. It performs well under thermal stress and maintains colour consistency in heat ageing. It is suited to applications such as medium and high voltage PBT connectors for electric vehicles, PBT cable jacket- ing and other high quality PBT E&E equipment. The product range also includes masterbatches combining colour with functional additives. For functionality and operability of E&E applications, Ampacet offers advanced additive masterbatches, including laser marking, metal deactivators, UV stabilisers, flame retardants, antimicrobial, scratch resistance, slip and release, odour absorbers, process stabilisers and processing aids. Colour and effect masterbatches as well as technical masterbatches from the Fibaplast range are now available from Finke with an all-colour certification for the UL94 HB classification. It says the use of an all-colour certified masterbatch in combination with a certified polymer allows the user to react flexibly to changes in colour and component without having to recertify them. “The only limits are the specified maximum

concentration of the components in the finished product and the approved minimum wall thickness,” says Finke. “Even a change of base polymer is possible as long as the new plastic is also certified and belongs to the same polymer class.” Finke offers all-colour cetifications for PP,

Director, Colour & Additives North America, the expected growth in electric vehicles is also fuelling demand for public charging equipment in the US, with over one million stations estimated to be built in the next eight years. The US Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which authorises funds for highways, transportation safety and transit programs, provides $7.5bn toward building a national network of North American-made EV chargers. According to Avient, this growth means new challenges for materials and technologies to ensure these state-of-the-art charging stations meet critical standards and performance specifications. “We have established a comprehensive set of material solutions that will help boost both the design, function and appeal of these charging units,” says Pillay. Avient says its materials can address key EVSE

areas with a broad portfolio of specialty formula- tions, including outdoor ductility, impact resistance, thermal management, and fire safety. In addition, sustainable formulations offer enhancements such as lightweighting or paint replacement and volatile organic compound reduction, the company says. Avient will make a range of its technologies available under the EVSE solutions platform to enhance the development of public charging stations. This includes its Cesa portfolio of additives designed to extend equipment life, its OnColor colourants, which provide creative special effects,
