vacuum generation only when needed. In one of three demonstration cells at the show, the S5-25 Speed will be paired with a 5X-25 robot to compare performance in side-by-side tests of speed and agility. Both units are based on the same mechanical platform but, while the S5-25 Speed is built for fast acceleration and a short cycle time, the 5X-25 is a five-axis-servo configuration with a two-axis-servo wrist, so it excels at complex and precision part manipulation. www.sepro.com

Sonics & Materials, a supplier of ultrasonic plastics welding equipment, will introduce a new DX Series OEM DSP power supply at NPE – the DX800. it offers energy savings, increased throughput with faster welds and advanced data capture and control. In addition, Sonics offers an array of OEM kits and stack components designed for installation into special assembly systems. The DSP-controlled power supply can scan the ultrasonic stack (con- verter/booster/horn) to determine the optimal starting frequency. The result is increased success with difficult ultrasonic horns, such as those with an irregular or non-symmetrical shape, multiple frequencies, or wear from long-term use and difficult applications. Start modes are also available in ‘last frequency’ mode and user-defined mode. The DX800 offers time and energy control with an LED bar graph for easy-to-view activity monitor- ing and error status. www.sonics.com

Sterling, part of ACS, will introduce several new chiller products at NPE. Its GPL small packaged chillers use R-513A

refrigerant, a ‘low GWP’ refrigerant that meets new environmental regulations. It is also classified as non-toxic and non-flammable, similar to the R-134A and R-410A it replaces. The units use an air-cooled system and have many features included as standard such as an audio/visual alarm. The new GPL chillers are available in 1-, 2- and 3-tonne cooling capacities. In addition, its new LHE central chiller offers two refrigerant options – R-410A or R-454B. The LHE continues to offer the central chiller key benefits of

high efficiency and modular expandability and is available in 20-60 tonne cooling sizes. Sterling will also introduce its TS-5 controller with a 5in touchscreen that allows for easy TCU control by machine operators. The controller is available with the TC130/TC131 series. The TS-5 includes USB data logging, standard ethernet, and many communications options. Plus, OPC UA / Euromap 82.1 capabilities are included as standard now in the new TS-5. www.acscorporate.com

Tolsa reports growing demand for its Adins flame retardant as a sustainable replacement for PTFE, as an anti-dripping mechanism for FR formulations. In the last six months, Tolsa says it has seen a

70% increase in demand for alternatives to PTFE as an anti-dripping mechanism. Most of this is focused on production of polycarbonate (PC) and PC/ABS compounds, as well as polyolefins such as PP and PE. “The additives offer a more complete improve- ment in fire retardancy properties because they don’t just behave as an anti-dripping mechanism but are also more sustainable,” said Marta Sacris- tán, functional additives product manager for Tolsa. Tolsa has validated the use of Adins additives as

a PTFE replacement in an electric vehicle (EV) battery case application in the UK. The company is also working with global firms to substi- tute PTFE in automotive parts and electrical devices, along with other applications. The additives are based on needle-like silicates modified in their surface with organic compounds to
