Dyna-Purge has introduced its new L grade – a speciality ‘dual action’ purging compound that can speed up colour changes for select extrusion applications. The purge compound’s dynamic action works
efficiently on the process boundary layers as well as expanding into negative flow and stagnation zones in the system. The formulation is safe and effective for removal of resin, colour, carbon, additives and impurities without the need for abrasives or chemicals. The new compound was refined through
rigorous field trials under actual processing conditions in order to earn commercial approval. The grade is effective with all types of thermo-
plastics, and safely processed in the temperature range of 143-329°C). The amount of purge required to clean is typically up to twice the barrel capacity, though the actual amount may vary depending upon the age and condition of process equipment. �

Engel will highlight a range of machinery at NPE, including its new compact all-electric E-mac slim edition.
It boasts maximum mould space with a mini- mum footprint. Its compact footprint allows best use production space, says the company – with a 16% saving in overall machine width. At the show, the E-mac 1565/310 will produce a technical moulding part – a bottle tray – on a single cavity mould supplied by long-term partner Haidlmair. Despite the footprint reduction, mould space
remains unchanged, giving enough room for large moulds. The bottle tray is produced using regrind – rather than repelletised material. Other machines on show include an E-speed 610/90 – for high-speed packaging applications – and a hydraulic victory 330/85, which will demonstrate quick mould changes. �

Extreme Coatings says there is high demand for its wear-resistant coatings as processors look to improve efficiencies and boost uptime. ‘‘Demand for our wear-resistant coatings has continued to rise in several key applications,” said Scott Caplan, executive vice president of Extreme Coatings. “Processors have realised that they can’t afford downtime so are looking to our coating solu- tions to mitigate wear.” Its CarbideX Proline is used for high-perfor- mance feedscrew applications. The process encapsulates complex processing components with hard, dense tungsten carbide formulations. These components include plastic injection moulding screws. Close tolerance machinery is most efficient when OEM tolerances are new, so maintaining the screw to barrel tolerance is vital to an efficient production operation, says the company. �

Globeius will highlight a number of products from Mouldpro of Denmark, for which it is the exclusive distributor in North America. “Mouldpro is a well-established supplier of
products for plastic injection moulding in Europe but is new to the US market,” said Graeme Sands, general manager of Globeius.
One highlight is the Flosense thermal management/mould monitoring system. Flosense provides optimum control over mould cooling processes, reducing cycle times. It uses sensors to measure the differences in input and output temperatures (Delta T)
and pressures (Delta P) – as well as total flow
rate through the system. It alerts technicians in real time about the stability of the process and any potential issues, such as waterline blockages or leaks and heater or cooler malfunctions.
