MUSHROOM DAYS PREVIEW ChampFood, stand 53
Since its foundation in 1990, Champ- Food International has been an active producer, supplier and distributor of ChampFood supplement for the global professional mushroom industry. “Supplement contributes significantly to increasing the yield, quality and shelf life of mushrooms. Extensive knowledge and expertise in various treatment tech- niques ensures a controlled release of proteins, carbohydrates, fats and mine- rals throughout the entire production cycle. This makes ChampFood unique and is one of the reasons we have been able to establish ourselves as supple- ment market leader in just over thirty

years.” ChampFood has invested in warehouse expansion over the past four years, including 1000 new pallet locati- ons, a second bagging line with a 16 tons per hour capacity and increased efficiency in production techniques.
ChampFood is convinced that supple- menting will become increasingly important as a total production component in the future. “The cost of supplement is less than 5% of raw material costs, consisting of compost, casing soil and spawn, and results in a production increase of 10-25%. This makes adding supplement a worth- while investment, both now and in the future.” With the arrival of Luc Baltus- sen (third generation) in Sales Support, ChampFood has great confidence in the future of the family business. The team looks forward to welcoming you at stand 53.
Christiaens Group, stand 35A + B
Of course, Christiaens will be present in force at the Mushroom Days, where the company will bring visitors up to speed on their new developments and innovations. “Our market is evolving and we are facing challenges: we want to reduce labour, save energy and raw materials, reduce our carbon footprint and so on. Our existing technology has a track record and is well known over the world. But we are not complacent. We roll up our sleeves and keep on improving. We keep on innovating. In our current markets and new ones. Innovating & … … Composting: Raw material efficiency, odour management, a safe working environment and attention to detail. It’s all key at a good compost yard. Pro- ducing Phase 1 in tunnels improves all these aspects. And even our new style of filling unit improves the material mix. … Growing: A big step forward is having dedicated pinning rooms and dedicated harvesting rooms. There are benefits regardless of the harvesting method. Even if a grower has not decided which harvesting system is best for a new pro- ject or expansion, we always recommend building a farm with the possibility to pull over. … Tilting shelves: One of the newer sys- tems are tilting shelves. Tilting the shelf towards the picker, makes it much easier to harvest the mushrooms. The

picker can focus on their job. Transpor- ting the mushrooms from the room with a blue belt makes automating packing relatively easy. The blue belt can also be applied on traditional farms. … Drawer system: Instead of moving the picker towards the mushrooms, the Drawer System is based on the principle that the mushrooms move underneath the picker’s hands. This system is by far the easiest for further automation such as big data and robotic harvesting. … Harvesting robots: Harvesting robots will be introduced on a larger scale in our industry sooner rather than later. The drawer system will speed up this development. We’re planning field tests with harvesting robots by the end of the year. … Emptying machine with casing separation:
Our latest emptying machine is the ideal solution to separately recycle casing and spent compost. It empties rooms at a high speed, discharging compost and casing into separate trailers. The discharge is at same position on each shelf level, so there is no need to reposi- tion the trailers. An ideal system if you want to reuse your casing! … Mycelium: Much work has been done on new applications of mycelium. Buil- ding materials, leather, meat replace- ment, etc. Mycelium has huge potential. Christiaens has developed growing methods and is involved in these new innovations. You are welcome to see and experience the innovations above at stand 35 A+B.
CNC, stand 45
