CHINA
Chinese Days Xiamen: ‘Return & Reunion’
The International
Mushroom Days (Xiamen) hosted by China Chamber
of Commerce of Foodstuffs and Native Produce (CFNA)
was organised March 21-23, in Fliport Convention & Exhibition Center.
I
t was the first large-scale mushroom industry exhibition after the Covid pandemic in China. It attracted 170 exhibitors and over 2,500 visitors,
and proved a great success. As China had just reopened the border and relieved the quarantine measures in January, just around 20 international par- ticipants from the US, the Netherlands, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and India were pre- sent to get up to speed on developments in the Chinese mushroom industry in the
past 3 years. The conference and fair were held as usual, and participants cherished this opportunity to exchange ideas and learn from each other again. ‘Return and reunion’, as the theme of the event has been called, means also that the Chinese industry will have normal conferences and exhibitions again from now on. The organizing committee thinks there are at least two advantages to have the event in Xiamen - and not in Zhangzhou as usual. One is convenient transportation
(Fliport is near Xiamen international airport), while the other is the better exhibition facility (compared with Wanda Realm in Zhangzhou). Whether the orga- nizers will continue to host the ‘Chinese Mushroom Days’ in Zhangzhou again is therefore not certain yet. With the feedback from the exhibitors and visitors in March, CFNA has confidence to organize the next International Mushroom Days (Xiamen) better in the first quarter of 2024.
