“We are excited to be able to showcase our harvesting system at the Mushroom Days for the first time and demonstrate its impact on everyday mushroom harvesting”, says Alan Doake, MD of Axis Harvesting. In 1992, Ivan Doake, an engineer and mushroom producer with over 40 years of experience designed and built the first generation harvesting sys- tem for his own farm, to address some of the issues all growers face. In 2013 AXIS Harvesting was founded and today Ivan’s son, Alan, has taken the innovation and design used by his father and created the AXIS Harvesting system. “Providing a modern, forward thinking harvesting sys-


tem that can consistently increase picking speeds by up to 400% and significantly reduce the number of personnel required in each growing room. The system works alongside the Dutch Shelving system using the AXIS Harvesting conveyor to transport the mushrooms from the beds to the Mushroom Processing Unit (MPU) where the mushroom is cut, graded, weighed and packed into punnets. One of the many benefits of AXIS Harvesting is that it can be retrofitted at most farms with minimal disruption.
