The past two years, Palmer Bus Services has been in the process of installing stop-arm cameras on school buses to catch instances of illegal passing.
The live view cameras from a combina-
tion of REI, Seon and Safety Vision were also implemented last year and are currently on about 250 school buses. Another 250 school buses are in the process of being completed this year. The cameras, he said, eliminate the “he said, she said” between students and drivers, and they allow transportation staff to access the camera systems remotely instead of waiting until the bus gets back to the lot.
A Contractor’s Perspective Palmer Bus Services, which has been in op-
eration for the past 50 years and contracts with 28 school districts across the state of Minnesota, started looking into safety-related software three to four years ago.
