View Mirrors system enhances the standard cross-view mirrors on school buses by integrating four bright LEDs into each mirror head, providing additional illumination in the bus’s front danger zone during low-light con- ditions such as early morning or evening loading and unloading, said Matt Eckert, senior director of school bus product sales. “The crossview LEDs not only increase visibility for the


drivers but helps guide students as they approach the bus and also get off the bus,” added Ahn-You. “Monitors offer a brightness for the driver that are not offered by mirrors alone. The 360HD system offers an aerial view plus dedicated views of the bus allowing the driver to ac- count for any students in a close proximity. The DCAMS e-Mirror system also offers a level of brightness an exte- rior mirror lacks without an external light source.” Student Shield has two sensors on the grille, one in the windshield, and one forward-facing on the rear of the bus designed to detect only human forms, significant- ly reducing false positive alarms, Eckert said.
