ilbert Rosas did the unfathomable—twice—in helping to electrify two school districts within two years. At Stockton Unified School District, where he served as the energy conservation specialist prior to joining Modesto City Schools, he helped secure $8.3 million in grants for the purchase of 11 electric school buses and 24 charges in phase one. The project was implemented in less than eleven months and impressed industry professionals with its quick adoption. Then, he moved to Modesto, where he is beating his own record by implementing electric school buses in about seven months.
While Gilbert Rosas was at Stockton Unified, he served two months at the interim transportation director. “But that’s a lot of work,” Rosas said. “I realized what all kinds of work that is, so I respect that immensely.”
