Director of Transportation Anthony Jackson says Superintendent Curtis Jones, Jr., exceeded the
already high expectations school staff had for him when he arrived at Bibb County School District four years ago.

that they had to delay school start times because the buses were arriving late. Then students had to stay a long time after school to wait for the buses to return for the ride home. Bibb County implemented a new requirement that
students register for the bus at school startup, like they did for class. “Now, when school starts, we have a good idea on who’s going to ride a bus, where that bus stop is going to be, and what we can deliver and what we can’t. This, versus having everyone show up and then trying to sort it out and having the parents get frustrat- ed with us,” Jones added. Jones said the experience has been a part of Bibb
County becoming a reliable organization. “For us, the strategic plan is, if you are going to be reliable, what does it look like?” he relayed. “It looks like buses pick- ing up students on time, getting them to school safely so they are ready to learn, picking them up when they are supposed to after school and getting them home safely as well.” One of the next things Jones and Jackson began work
on was the bell schedule. When Jones arrived at Bibb County, school buses were also picking up both middle
