Scanfil Expands Americas Presence through Partnership with ASMPT

By Michael Skinner, Editor F

or nearly 50 years, Scanfil has been a trusted manufacturing partner for diverse electronics innovators. Excep -

tionally broad in its service offer, the compa- ny’s customer base and product mix are expansive. As Scanfil North American direc- tor of sales Jaron Cherry explains, “We man- ufacture products the size of a diabetic test strip all the way up to electronic systems in 40 foot containers. Add to that our design, distribution, and repair capabilities, and you get some sense for Scanfil’s scope.” Indeed, Scanfil’s website news

page is filled with its latest part- nership successes — from IoT devices like solar trackers to pho- tonics systems, and from EV charging stations to fire-fighting robots. All these electromechanical products begin with high-quality electronic assemblies, and invest- ing in cutting-edge SMT equip- ment and software has been a key contributor to Scanfil’s decades of achievement.

Even More Made in the U.S.A. With nine factories globally

and one in the USA), Scanfil’s focus on digi- talization and best-in-class operations has seen its growth double since 2015. On the heels of capacity increase investments in its Poland, Sweden, Estonia, and Germany facil- ities, the company recently announced a 50% expansion in the United States at its Atlanta, Georgia, factory as well. Established in 2000, Scanfil’s U.S.-based operations his-

torically provided box build, distribution, and repair services. However, with geographic manufacturing shifts and significant Americas region growth in sectors such as MedTech, IoT, consumer industrial products, and EV automotive infrastructure, establish- ing electronics assembly in the U.S. market is vital to Scanfil’s customers and a crucial part of its long-term growth strategy. “Previously, PCBAs for many

of our end products were built at one of our sister factories,” says Cherry. “This delivered the quality control we demand. However, accelerating time-to-market and providing local design and manu- facturing will open many opportu- nities for us. In fact, that’s already happening, as simply announcing our board assembly investment and timeline has seen requests for quotes (RFQs) triple our normal average.”

Manufacturing Excellence = Customer Confidence

One of Scanfil’s advantages is

its global harmonization: the com- pany has the same systems, simi- lar assembly line set-ups, NPI
