Raising the Headsail 1. Prepare the sail for hoisting. Take it to the foredeck and remove bag. 2. If windy, consider lashing sail to guard wires with sail ties. 3. Attach halyard to head of sail. 4. Attach sheets to clew of sail. 5. Attach tack of sail. 6. Hank sail onto forestay. 7. Pull up on halyard to hoist.
Dropping the Headsail 1. Ease the halyard.
2. Pull down on the luff of the sail. Keep some tension on the jib sheet so neither the sail nor the sheet goes over the side.
3. Remove the halyard from the sail and clip it onto the pulpit. Re-tension the halyard.
