An onshore wind usually requires the use of a spring to prise the boat off the pontoon. Whether a bow or stern spring is used is dictated by the direction of the stream.
Bow Spring
Use a bow spring if the stream is from astern.

Engage ahead to swing the stern into the stream. Select neutral, then astern. Slip the spring and reverse clear. Rig a bow-spring slip line. Fender the bow area.
Stern Spring
Use a stern spring if the stream is from ahead.

Fender the quarter. Rig a stern-spring slip line. Engage astern to swing the bow into the stream. Select neutral, then engage ahead. Slip the spring.
