WHAT’S NEW? TC OFFICER AWARDED DISTINCTION
Adeel Usman (Adi), Security officer at TC Security Services, has received an Officer of Distinction award at a lunch hosted by ACS Pacesetters at Royal Windsor Race Course on Wednesday 24th May, 2017.
He was nominated by Andy Jenkins, the Operations Manager at Vicarage Road Stadium, home of Premier League Watford Football Club and where Adi has worked since the Autumn of 2016. It is here where Adi along with the rest of the TC Security Services team provide a range of services including manned guarding, CCTV alongside a raft of added value services to help reduce risk and maintain excellent health and safety at the stadium and training ground.
HEALTHY, HAPPY AND HYDRATED
Dehydration is a serious issue for office staff as it can reduce mental, as well as physical performance. Water loss can be caused by increased work load, stress, long commutes, dry air and air conditioning. Symptoms of dehydration include tiredness, lack of concentration and headaches, which can all result in an unhappy and unproductive team.
One option to encourage regular hydration is for employers to supply fruit-infused water for staff; it enhances the taste of water and will motivate staff to drink throughout the day.
As an added bonus, infused water has the sweet fruit flavours of fruit juice, without the extra calories or sugar. Infused water also boasts a healthy array of natural antioxidants and vitamins, estimated to be about 20% of freshly squeezed fruit juice. If staff need further persuasion, it’s worth pointing out that health conscious supermodels such as Heidi Klum have embraced this trend.
Fruit infusions in BRITA Vivreau’s reusable Designer Twist bottles will also look fantastic on a boardroom table for summer meetings, branded with the company logo.
A vital issue here is the quality of the water. FMs are advised to consider a product that both filters and cools the water. BRITA Vivreau’s ViTap dispenses mains-fed, purified, chilled, still, sparkling and instant boiling hot water from one single tap with a touch sensor control and zero splash. Incorporating high-performance, ice- bank refrigeration, the ViTap is capable of delivering large quantities of chilled water.
John Haskell, Contracts Manager at Springer Nature commented: “I would say that the ViTap system is one of the most used items of equipment that we have on the premises. With the proximity of the ViTap, staff are constantly topping up their bottles and taking them back to their desks, so they rehydrate on a regular basis.”
By making water and fruit more accessible, employers can show they care about staff wellbeing, an important aspect of a wider Corporate Social Responsibility strategy.

Andy nominated Adi after his quick-thinking, diligence and observation skills resulted in an intruder being apprehended and arrested, safeguarding the 22,000-seater Vicarage Road ground.
As part of his regular patrol of the site, Adi became aware of an intruder and used the state-of-the-art camera technology at use in the ground to identify the intruder’s location as a thorough physical search of the area had not been successful. The cameras identified the precise location of the intruder, and although when the police initially attended, the suspect had disappeared, thanks to Adi's ongoing diligence and observation skills the intruder was successfully apprehended and arrested.
On hearing about the award, Adi played the incident down and was surprised that he would be recognised in this way, he said: “At first I was surprised as I never expected to be nominated to receive an award. After my surprise, I then realised that my hard work had been recognised, and it felt good.”
Richard Chappell, CEO TC Facilities Management, the parent company of TC Security Services said: “Adi’s diligence and quick thinking provides testament to the commitment TC Security Services display to their clients and their people, and a determination to provide customer- focused service to provide complete peace of mind.”
