HYBRID WORKPLACE TECHNOLOGY: THE WHAT, WHY AND HOW

NFS Technology investigates how one major financial services company responded to the need for change – right in the middle of the pandemic.

Many business managers are welcoming their staff back to the workplace right now – only to find that they are not quite the same people they knew before the pandemic.

After the enforced experiment of home working, workers are returning with radically different priorities – and top of their list is flexibility. It goes across all industries: 60% of workers told a Deloitte survey that they want to continue to work more from home.

What happens if they don’t get the flexibility they desire? They’ll vote with their feet. Upcoming bank Atom announced recently that it will move to a four-day working week to help improve talent retention.

Employers are responding in different ways, because this is not a one-size-fits-all situation – and because it’s a whole new world, examples of best practice are only now coming to the fore.

So, here’s a great example of how one major financial services company responded to the need for change – right in the middle of the pandemic.

The firm – a client of workspace software company NFS Technology that has asked to remain anonymous for commercial reasons – celebrated the opening of its new European head quarters in 2020.

Just two weeks later, the pandemic lockdowns began, and the financial services company immediately realised that the set-up they had implemented would no longer produce the results they needed.

As the world reeled from the ramifications of Covid, the company moved with lightning speed to create a new digitally-supported workplace strategy where CAFM technology would support and enable its suddenly agile workforce.

With support from NFS Technology’s experts, the company embarked on a three-step journey to make the new HQ a great working environment both during and after the crisis was over.

Step 1: A company policy for agile working was drawn up, and the design of the new HQ was adapted to enable its implementation.
