DESIGN & INTERIORS

The transformation in office space is “massively positive” for both client and staff. This generates an overpowering feeling of wellbeing.

When staff recruitment and retention is critical, creating collaborative meeting places where different departments can sit, chat and foster agile solutions in what Gary dubs a “coffee house environment”.

“Making offices more welcoming is the way forward but requires proper planning for sustainable delivery. Some corporates are specifying bespoke meeting pods, manufactured offsite then quickly assembled on site, then dismantled after use.

“The need for constant change creates this corporate flux, To build new could cost millions. Pods are so much more affordable and flexible as demand shifts day to day.

“Increasingly intolerant staff is a reflection of society, a cultural shift where people are more concerned about `me` not `us` that facilities and project managers have to handle.

“They may have a great selection of food available to them at the offices but then complain that it is too hot or too cold, despite it being a complimentary service from the employer. That’s become the way of the world.”

Gary enjoys access to a world of constantly evolving products to help his clients serve up fulfilling work environments. Personal storage ranks higher than ever post-Covid as agile working kicks in and employers strive to provide their invaluable human resource with a place to call home at the office.

“I seek to source British manufacturers and suppliers, as there are some great examples out there, such as Crown Sports Lockers, whose product quality and service levels are extremely high and who will adapt to specific demands when necessary.”

And it’s no surprise to learn that today’s personal work spaces are heavily protected from unauthorised access. Salaried staff and consultants permanently place on site have their personal storage areas accessed only by sophisticated electronic entry systems, before accessing their own lockers with bespoke digital devices.

As traditional desk domains give way to the agile era, a home from home at the office will need to offer contentedness for employees.
