WESSEX LAUNCHES ZERO TO LANDFILL JANITORIAL MACHINE

RECYCLING PROGRAM Millions of tonnes of plastics are used and thrown away in the UK every year, with a large majority making its way to UK landfi lls, where it will last for centuries and continue to pollute the environment.

In a day and age where businesses are demanding more sustainable and environmental alternatives to waste recycling, Wessex Cleaning Equipment has developed a zero to landfi ll, circular solution for all types and sizes of janitorial machinery that uses every element of the machine.

Passionate about creating a more sustainable future for the facilities management and commercial cleaning industry, Wessex has designed a fi rst of its kind solution that rids both the company’s operation and its clients of retired or non-functional janitorial machinery that would typically be heading to landfi lls. Wessex is now accepting everything from used tub vacuums to ride-on scrubber dryers.

In exchange for recycling, customers receive in-depth and detailed reporting, evidencing each component of the recycled machine that has been processed, where it goes, and how the material is used in its second life. Any materials that cannot be fully recycled move to an ‘energy from waste’ facility where they produce electricity, power, and heat which offers customers a Circular Solution. The residual waste is then used for road building as a composite in the aggregates or the construction industry.

Through the creation of many strong new partnerships and advanced recycling facilities, Wessex offers this service nationwide and for any type or size of the janitorial machine. The program and reporting empower organisations to achieve and maintain prestigious accreditations such as Planet Mark and B-Corp while drastically

reducing the residual plastic waste produced by facilities management and the commercial cleaning sector.

In a statement, Matthew Rogers, Wessex’s Marketing Manager, who has worked to create the program, said: “All of the team at Wessex are proud to offer this solution to the industry. The FM sector is increasingly competitive, and we must work to put our customers at the leading edge of innovation regarding bids and contracts. As service-users

look to our customers for more environmental, sustainable, and innovative solutions, our business must adapt and support them. This is precisely what we have done.

“Wessex customers will now be able to offer their clients a zero-landfi ll solution for all their machines, as part of their service, which gives our customers the edge over their competition.”
